WELCOME TO HEDO

Improving the lives and health of children and adults with disabilities in Tanzania.

Empowering Lives

We believe in inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for every person.

Did You Know?

People with disabilities often face barriers to education, employment, and healthcare — not because of their condition, but due to societal neglect. You can help change that.

Our History

Helping Elders and Disabled Organization (HEDO) is a community-based organization founded in 2024 by two young visionaries, Ling’ato Yakini and Isaya Bitende, who recognized the critical need to support some of the most overlooked and marginalized groups in society — persons with disabilities, the elderly, women, and youth.

Driven by compassion and a desire to address social inequality, the founders witnessed how these groups often face stigma, exclusion, limited access to opportunities, and long-standing economic barriers. HEDO was born as a response to restore dignity, enhance inclusion, and promote sustainable empowerment for vulnerable communities.

HEDO is officially registered under the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups in Tanzania, demonstrating its strong commitment to advancing social welfare, rights, and equal opportunities for all.

Location

Our head office is located in Makuyuni, Arusha, Tanzania — a strategic crossroads connecting major northern tourist circuits and national parks. The office is situated approximately 80 meters from the main road leading to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, making it accessible to community members, volunteers, and development partners across Monduli District and the wider region.
